It's a Wonderful Life
It's a Wonderful Life is a pretty old movie but definitely one of the most acclaimed films ever made. It is a 1946 American Christmas fantasy drama film produced and directed by Frank Capra. George Bailey (leading actor that stared by James Stewart) strived to help others even that he had to give up his dream. He finally intended to suicide himself on Christmas Eve which brings about the intervention of his guardian angel, Clarence Odbody (Henry Travers). Thanks to Clarence, George realized how much he has changed the lives around him in a good way and how different life in his community of Bedford Falls would be had he never been born.
Miracle on 34th Street
Miracle on 34th Street is a 1947 Christmas comedy-drama film written and directed by George Seaton. The story took place between Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day in New York City and focused on the impact of a department store Santa Claus who claims to be the real Santa.
Kris Kringle (played by Edmund Gwenn) is a bearded old man who is the living image of Santa Claus. Kringle was offered a job as a Macy's toy-department Santa. However, he was under his delusion that he's the genuine Saint Nick and advised customers to shop elsewhere for toys that they can't find at Macy's. His supervisor - Maureen O'Hara soon noticed the problem and thought about quit hiring him. Surprisingly, Mr. Macy (Harry Antrim) considers Kris' shopping tips to be an excellent customer-service "gimmick," and insists that the old fellow keep his job. Thanks to Kris, he brought the lawyer John Payne and O'Hara together and cheer up O'Hara's little daughter Natalie with Christmas spirit.
However, Macy's nasty in-house psychologist, arranged to lock up Kris in Bellevue as a lunatic. Payne represented Kris and rocked the New York judicial system to its foundations by endeavoring to prove in court that Kris was, indeed, the real Santa Claus!
Holiday Inn is a 1942 American musical film directed by Mark Sandrich and starring Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. Being a fantastic musical film, Holiday Inn would indulge you in its sophisticated music. Music by Irving Berlin, songs by Bing Crosby and dancing by Fred Astaire all add up to a really delightful musical. The composer wrote twelve songs specifically for the film, one of which is the hit "White Christmas". This song received a 1943 Academy Award for Best Original Song.
The Shop Around the Corner
In this movie, both Alfred Kralik (James Stewart) and Klara Novak (Margaret Sullavan) are employees in Budapest gift-shop. They hate each other almost at first sight when Klara just set her foot in the shop. Kralik would prefer to talk to the woman with whom he is corresponding by mail but has never met. As for Novak, she would be happier to communicate with her male pen pal, whom she also has never laid eyes on. Then it is proved that Kralik and Novak have been writing letters to each other. Although the plot-turns are foreseeable, the film's wit, romantic plot and well performances are undimmed delights.
Happy Christmas (2014)
After breaking up, Jenny (Kendrick) moves in with her older brother Jeff's family (Jeff, his novelist wife Kelly, and their two-year-old child). At the very beginning, Jenny's arrival shakes up their quiet and peaceful life. Under Jenny's influence, Kelly realizes the changes in her life. This movie would bring you some fun and inspire you in the end.
A Royal Christmas (2014)
Emily Taylor (Lacey Chabert) is a humble and kind seamstress from Philadelphia. As the Christmas season approaches, her boyfriend - Leo (Stephen Hagan) reveals that he is actually Prince Leopold, heir to the throne of Cordinia (which is a small country). Emily is taken to Leo's country for the Christmas holidays but feel unwelcome because Leo's mother disapproves her. She is still nice to the people there and tries to befriend with them. With some ups and downs, the story ends up with a happy ending.
The Christmas Heart (2012)
How do you spend your Christmas Eve? Most people will enjoy a feast with their be-loved ones. However, a teenage boy desperately needs a heart transplant on that day. You will be touch when the boy's parents pray for his son and a group of neighbors that come together to help provide emotional support for the boy.
